Aboriginal Language Resource Kits

Join authors Aunty Fay Stewart Muir and Aunty Merle Miller as they unpack the Aboriginal Language Resource Kits and offer tips and tools for including these resources in your language program.

This learning module is designed for all Aboriginal language teachers and educators engaged in delivering Aboriginal Languages as part of the Early Childhood Language Program, to explore the resources in the language program kits. Before proceeding, we recommend you have permission from your manager to engage in this activity to ensure you are compensated for your time. We expect that this workshop takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

Guest Speakers

Boonwurrung , Wamba Wamba Elder and Early Childhood Language Program mentor Aunty Fay Stewart Muir leads us through a range of guiding concepts for engaging in resources to support the Aboriginal language program. Fay is an author and teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Primary, and has been working as a Cultural Educator in primary and early years settings for many years sharing cultural knowledge and resources with children and their teachers. Fay's work with the Victorian Aboriginal Corporation for Languages, reclaiming her own language, allows Fay to share that knowledge with children and teachers alike.

Aunty Merle Miller is a strong and proud Yorta Yorta woman, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and community member. She has worked as a teacher, early childhood educator, community development officer and more recently as a writer.
