PROFESSIONAL LEARNING WEBINAR

Lost in Translation

This webinar has been adapted from the 2024 ECLP Annual Forum workshop series and is designed for everyone involved in the delivery of the language program.

Delve into how children grasp words and phrases most effectively when immersed in purposeful interactions. This webinar will work through practical strategies for fostering strong connections with language through engaging activities and thoughtful linguistic choices. We'll ponder reflective questions such as: Is the language we use easily understood by children? How can we enhance comprehension by integrating gestures, intonation, and other resources? By embracing these inquiries, we aim to create enriching environments where translation becomes obsolete, and language learning flourishes organically.

This learning module is designed for all teachers and educators engaged in delivering the Early Childhood Language Program, to explore the skills, knowledge, and practices that early childhood professionals need to engage children in the language program.

We have designed this learning session to be conducted as a professional development opportunity for your whole team, to encourage meaningful discussion and planning for action together. However, where that is not possible the module is also suited to individual access.

We hope this learning module is meaningful for your program, we welcome your input to build on the skills, resources, and support for the whole Early Childhood Language Program cohort of early childhood professionals.

Before proceeding, we recommend you have permission from your manager to engage in this activity to ensure you are compensated for your time. We expect that this learning module will take approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

This webinar was run on 6 August 2024
