PROFESSIONAL LEARNING WEBINAR

Less Language More Often!

The forgetting curve and the science of retrieval suggest that we may need to rethink both the amount and the types of target language we use with our learners.

This webinar will explore:

  • The types of language that our children are most likely to memorise and use

  • Ways to reduce teacher language during both the planning and instructional phases

  • Engaging ways to increase the number of repetitions of functional language

This learning module is designed for all teachers and educators engaged in delivering the Early Childhood Language Program, to explore the skills, knowledge, and practices that early childhood professionals need to effectively engage children in the language program.

We have designed this learning session to be conducted as a professional development opportunity for your whole team, to encourage meaningful discussion and planning for action together. However, where that is not possible the module is also suited to individual access.

We hope this learning module is meaningful for your program and we welcome your input to build on the skills, resources, and support for the whole Early Childhood Language Program cohort of early childhood professionals.

Before proceeding, we recommend you have permission from your manager to engage in this activity to ensure you are compensated for your time. We expect that this learning module takes approximately 1.5 hours to complete.

This webinar was run on 3 November 2023.
