As language professionals, there will be times when it is necessary to advocate for high quality access to language learning and advocate for language learners to have equitable access to curricula, resources, funding, or culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy. Advocacy work can sometimes feel overwhelming and isolating. Kylie takes us through some easy steps to make a positive start on your advocacy journey. She will look at what it takes to set advocacy goals, how and why to get involved in professional language associations where there is strength in numbers and how to showcase your programs to help inform decision making in to the future.

Before proceeding, we recommend you have permission from your manager to engage in this activity to ensure you are compensated for your time. We expect that this workshop takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
